I have been writing for as long as I can remember. My first experience with publishing was in grade three, when I wrote an elaborate story about a talking bear who had escaped from a cruel circus ringmaster. I acknowledge that it was strongly influenced by, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. However, when you’re eight years old, talking animals and hidden worlds are pretty much the best idea ever invented.
Ever.
In any case, I was hooked, but decide to pursue my other passion, music. I was accepted into an arts high school and when I moved on to university, I majored in Voice, and graduated with a Bachelor of Musical arts.
Sometime during my last year (possibly around the time I didn’t get into the program I had auditioned for), I came to the realization that perhaps I wasn’t as in love with performing as I had once believed. I decided to get serious about writing and enrolled in multiple creative writing courses at a local college. It was through these courses that I met other talented writers and teachers, who encouraged me to start submitting my work for publication.
When the sun comes up, I am a technical writer and member of the Toronto Society for Technical Writers. When the sun goes down, the creative side of my brain takes over. I spend most of my evenings working on my writing projects, as well as editing, and critiquing work by other writers.
I reside in Toronto, Ontario with a very tolerant boy. When I’m not writing, I’m obsessed with finding new recipes to try, going on adventures and singing at the top of my lungs in my tiny apartment.
