Part of my goals for 2014 include trying to get over my fear of putting myself out there in both meeting other writers and getting my book in front of a larger audience.
When I was trying to decide what events would go on my list, I immediately knew that the Surrey International Writer’s Conference was one of them. I’m not a presenter nor do I have a booth at this conference, but that’s not why I keep going back. This conference makes me happy. The friendly community atmosphere is a goldmine for learning, and building long lasting friendships. I’m excited to see old friends, make some new ones, and get a fresh perspective on writing.
I’ve also decided to participate in two festivals in the fall. So far I feel pretty darn pumped about having my own little booth, but I know there’s going to be a lot of prep work that will need to go into making these events successful. For now, I keep reminding myself that it’s happening. I’m pushing past the inner voice that says I shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing, and just going for it.
What do I have to lose?
I’ve posted the list of my events here for convenience. If you check out the menu links on the left hand side of the screen, you’ll also find them there as well. Hope to see you there!
